Jonathan W. Bowling dedicated his life to the service of others. As a police officer and a firefighter, he would put himself in harms way to protect members of his community.

As an elder in his church, Jon would council members of his congregation in their time of need. Jonathan was an avid motorcycle rider and traveled great distances to participate in fundraising events for many different causes. By enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, he placed the needs of his country over those of his own.

Tragically, Jonathan made the ultimate sacrifice for the causes of freedom. Jon's life serves as a shining example to us all. His consistent dedication to the service of others and his courageous acts of heroism and valor in combat can be attributed in part to his training and to his wonderful gift. For Jonathan truly possessed the gift of giving. In Iraq and in the service of our country, Jonathan gave each of us all that he had.

Shortly after his death, members of the Chapter 11 Red Knights Motorcycle Club contacted Jon's family to preserve his memory. This annual bike ride was formed and is the fundraising event that benefits the Corporal Jonathan W. Bowling Scholarship Fund. All proceeds from this ride are donated to this fund.

Each year, the scholarship fund provides a Patrick County student with funding for college. Students with a desire to enter into public service are given a priority. All of these donations are tax deductible. Please e-mail for more information.
